Abstract :
In this article, two popular database connection types of mobile devices and database server computers in a client/server model are investigated by some performance evaluation experiments. This investigation is carried out with respect to query result retrieval times on different number of attributes and records. In the first concept, database connection is established by using of IIS (Internet Information Services)[4] , which is almost used by the mobile device applications. In the second, database connection is established by using of Windows Authentication[5] over IP (Internet Protocol), which is nearly the same as standard database connection on a desktop application. The small difference on Windows Authentication is the use of correct DLLs (Dynamic Link Libraries). In both concepts, it is obvious that, a successful connection can be established, but some differences occur on query results retrieval time as the database grows. Experimental results pointed out that Windows authentication over IP is slightly time- redundant than IIS.
