Abstract
This paper presents a study of transients on induction motors in plants that feature power quality problems. The standard model of the induction motor was used for the analysis of the behavior during run up and steady state. The initial simulation assumed a perfect sinusoidal waveform, that was followed by the introduction of harmonic components to distort the waveform and, other simulations were performed for this new condition. The study featured small medium and large size machines. The results show additional torque oscillations during the run up, which remain present in the steady state. This study may contribute for the analysis of effects on sensitive loads.
