Abstract :
Benefits provided by third-order Raman pumping in unrepeated WDM transmission systems are quantified in terms of BER performances at 10 Gb/s. Double-Rayleigh scattering noise induces transmission penalties at very high on-off Raman gain and must be kept under control.
