Abstract :
Power quality is becoming a very important issue for utilities and industry. The paper discusses different types of power quality events and multifunctional intelligent electronic devices that are used for monitoring and analysis of such events. Different recording modes and their implementation in power quality monitoring systems are discussed. The object models of power quality monitoring elements, the use of high-speed peer-to-peer communications and the integration of such devices in UCA based substation automation systems are presented later in the paper.
