Abstract
The need for efficient movement and precise location of people, goods, and services within complex buildings is becoming more important. In this article, an indoor positioning and communication platform using fluorescent light communication (FLC) is proposed. A new robot control method using FLC, is discussed. A practical intelligent environment with 14 compact fluorescent down lights, and a receiver with a photo sensor circuit embedded in a LEGO NXT robot, is presented. We also give considerations to the pattern of the light distribution because it may affect the size of the communication and location estimation area.
