  • Abstract
Instantaneous power definitions and a selective disturbance identification methodology are used in this paper to discuss the applicability of power factor (PF) concepts under distorted and unbalanced voltages and currents. The main goal is to expose some problems related with the conventional definitions and propose alternative solutions based on voltage, current and power conformity factors. As defined, these factors may also be used as power quality indices and thus aggregate more information about the power supply to any type of load. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the proposal.
