Abstract :
In this paper we present an approach for a prefiltering subsystem of an automatic diabetes screening system. The goal is to recognize non-fundus or low quality images, and cases when the image shows such severe lesions that require urgent interaction with an ophthalmologist. This subsystem enhances the performance of the whole screening system by excluding images of a number of patients from further processing.
