Abstract :
A consultation system aimed at guiding a radiologist in the analysis of images is described. The system has been implemented using a commercial expert system shell (GOLDWORKS), which works under GC LISP and permits a hybrid knowledge representation based on frames and rules. It runs on a AT-compatible system with a Humming-board card, under MS-DOS. The application of methods by ad hoc software procedures is separated from the consultation module and uses any image processing package running under MS-DOS whose structure and whose activation commands have been previously described to microRAY-1. Two image processing packages have been linked to the consultation system so far: a home-made system (SMILE) and a commercial system (SAPERE). Both are written in C-language and use a MATROX-PIP 1024 card and a high-resolution additive monitor
