Abstract :
High voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission plays an important role in China´s regional power grid interconnection, effect of alternating-current (AC) system strength on the HVDC startup characteristics is gradually emerging. According to the study about HVDC start-control, this paper builds a simulation model to study the characteristics of its startup based on PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program. For the simulation results, this paper puts forward some solutions when HVDC is connected to extremely weak AC systems and compares them.
