Abstract
There are several themes underlying the object-oriented paradigm. Although these themes are not unique to object-oriented technology, they are particularly well supported in object oriented systems. The paper discusses some of these themes, including: abstraction, encapsulation, combining data and behavior, data and behavior sharing, emphasis on object structure rather than procedure structure, and software synergy
