Abstract :
Performance measurement is commonly used to monitor the macroscopic performance of electric utilities. The measurement of performance can take several forms and levels which include different structured data quantifying the level of performance so that either the utility or the regulator can assess the performance, identify the cause and implement corrective actions. This paper describes this concept and the two general approaches of performance measurement. The present situation in Hong Kong is highlighted and performance indicators for evaluating the performance of the two local power companies are discussed
