Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to provide a discussion of the status of object-oriented repository systems standards developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in cooperation with the International Organization for Standards (ISO): the “Information Resource Dictionary System (IRDS) Framework Standard WD10027:1993” and the “Information Resource Dictionary System (IRDS) Services Interface Standard WD10728:1993”. These standards are intended to benefit the industry by seamlessly integrating data management functions that were previously provided as standalone proprietary services
