Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the formation of a non-optically induced grating, formed at room temperature in a piezoelectric La/sub 3/Ga/sub 5/SiO/sub 14/:Pr/sup 3+/ crystal due to compensation of a photorefractive space-charge field. This is to our knowledge the first report of such a self-fixation process in any kind of photorefractive crystal.
