  • Abstract
There are different methods of filter design to calculate its kVA rated power and voltage distortion. The attenuation factor method is a simple but effective procedure presented in the bibliography to characterise harmonic distortion. The present paper expands this method to include an analysis of buses with capacitor banks and linear loads. Attenuation of harmonic voltages by filters is calculated with the expanded procedure and presented in the form of generalised curves. This procedure is applied to a filter design example and compared with the original one.
