Abstract :
This paper presents a method for external power network monitoring. The method utilizes an unreduced model of a large part of the external system and it is based on state estimator approach. Any type of real-time measurements can be used. Since the external system model must not affect the internal system state estimate and power mismatches at boundary buses should be minimal, the boundary measurements are selected to be critical. The method is illustrated with the IEEE 14-bus system
