Abstract
Refractive index modulation in endlessly-single-mode photonic crystal fiber by CO2 laser irradiation without surface-deformation is experimentally confirmed with a value of 1.68×10-3 for the first time. Mechanical stress relaxation in the fiber contributes to the effect.
