Abstract :
This paper demonstrates that with certain system parameters, a power system could behave `chaotically´. The power system model used consists of two generators and an induction motor in parallel with a constant PQ load. From nonlinear control theory, for a system to behave `chaotically´, the Jacobian of the model equation will have a zero eigenvalue and at least one positive and one negative eigenvalue. Numerical examples are used to illustrate the above points
