Abstract :
The training of power system dispatchers with the aid of a simulator, combining operational switching and system working are described. The training simulator discussed belongs to a class of programmable simulators and contains a set of training procedures dealing with the most important emergency situations which are the characteristic conditions in bulk power transmission systems. Using the same training procedures, it is possible to utilize a wide range of facilities for abandoning current emergency practices. The scenarios for training procedures are built on the principles which form the basis of computer-assisted learning systems, consisting of a logical sequence of separate programs. The training is carried out in a dialogue mode with a computer
