Abstract :
In this paper, a stochastic simulation and optimization algorithm for pumped-storage plant operation is presented, in which the cumulant method using available capacity distribution (ACD method) based on chronological load curve for production simulation is employed. Pumped-storage plant operation strategies are determined so that total operation cost including shortage cost is minimized. Several case studies are given in this paper. It shows that the method is efficient and accurate
