Abstract :
A prototype system for managing fluid/electrolyte disorders has been developed and evaluated. It includes a user interface, patient database, patient record file, diagnostic and treatment modules, and a dynamic mathematical model to simulate the effects of recommenced therapy. In preliminary tests, the system is shown to outperform a junior clinician. The basic approach and the system development and evaluation are described
