Abstract :
In a deregulated electricity market there will also be other services than active power supply for sale. An example of such a service is the delivery of reactive and harmonic power to enhance the power quality. In the near future distributed generation from renewable resources will further grow as a consequence of the awareness over climate change. Power electronic interfaces are usually required to connect renewable generation units with the utility system. These interfaces can be designed with additional functions such as e.g. active filtering. This paper explores the idea to provide power quality enhancement related services with small wind energy systems.
