Abstract :
An expert system in dysmorphology called EDDY is discussed. EDDY is based on the truth-maintenance methodology and works successfully with low-reliability input information. The inference is carried out by a special kind of default rule. It provides a user-oriented explanation based on the evaluation of the quality of arguments accumulated during the inference process
