Abstract :
In this paper we propose a new integrated technique to accurately measure the volume of 3-D spots in images of human cell cultures by combining watershed transformation and active contour models. We use the watershed contour as the initial snake contour and develop a novel scheme to estimate the snake parameters. Performance of this new technique is measured on synthetic images and images of micro-beads and compared with traditional techniques.
