Abstract :
This paper presents a novel prototype of a quasi-resonant PWM DC-DC IGBT power converter using active semiconductor switches in series with the diodes of the rectifier circuit in the link transformer secondary-side. This DC-DC power converter can easily achieve soft-switching operation under the condition of low commutating current and no freewheeling circulation current. The component conduction losses caused by their currents are substantially reduced as compared with the other soft-switching DC-DC power converters. Its operating principle and unique features are described on the basis of the previously developed DC-DC power converters. The operating characteristics of this new power converter topology in the steady-state are illustrated and discussed, including simulated analyses and feasible experimental results
