Abstract :
Water channeling is a big challenge for mature waterflooding oilfields. To cope with this problem, it needs to determine permeability limits between three ranking levels of petroleum reservoir layers. It is suggested to use the forced distribution method for purpose of limit determination. The use of this method involves three steps including prescribing ranking levels and percentages, conducting normal transformation for reservoir permeability and determining permeability limits between ranking levels. In addition, a normal transformation method is presented to guarantee that the permeability sample fit a bell-shaped normal distribution, which is the precondition of forced distribution. Finally, a field case is given to elaborate on the procedure. Taking full advantage of the result can make conformance control treatment design more proper.
