Abstract :
Antenna diversity is one of the most popular and simple methods for mitigating shadowing and fading associated with rich multipath radio environments. It can also be applied to Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems to improve spectral efficiency. Although it is straightforward to design a multiple antenna diversity system for a fixed environment, the implementation on a mobile environment is not as easy. There are two issues when we design an antenna diversity system for mobile platform: First, it poses a large computational problem when considering mobile platform, antennas, and surrounding environments together. Second, it requires a complex process to find the optimum diversity configuration (using minimum number of antennas) and achieving maximum performance.
