Abstract :
An investigation of the electroencephalogram (EEG) under anesthetic sleep conditions was conducted to evaluate dimensionality as an EEG-derived parameter that might reflect complex brain dynamics in a clinically useful way. Dimensional analysis of EEG has resulted in reported apparent dimensions ranging from 2 to 9. The homogeneity of the present results suggests that the wide range of reported EEG dimensional values may be attributable to discrepancies in methodology (data collection or dimensional algorithms). It is concluded that dimensional analysis provides an alternative to spectral analysis that may reflect additional information content
