  • Abstract
    A so-called bridged-T controller, which combines both open-loop and closed-loop control components is proposed for speed control of a switched reluctance motor. The open-loop controller provides a fast dynamic response and the closed-loop controller assures zero steady-state speed error by feedback of the error between the ideal open-loop response and the actual machine response. The bridged-T controller is easy to design, to implement, and to tune. A three-phase switched reluctance motor drive with this bridged-T controller has been simulated using Matlab-Simulink and implemented in real time using a digital signal processor. The simulated and actual responses match closely, and demonstrate a dynamic response superior to that which may be obtained using the standard closed-loop control alone.
