Abstract
With more and more applications of spatial data, a great demand on business rules related to spatial information emerges. Active rule integrated into spatial database can be used to implement not only integrity constraint but also various business rules. Condition matching for active rule is critical to the efficiency of rules execution. However the active rule of spatial database is quite different from that of relational database, so the existing models cannot be directly introduced into spatial database to gain the same efficiency. In this paper, traditional condition evaluation model, rule discrimination network (RDN) is improved. Combined algebra optimization of spatial query with spatial operator migration, we propose an extended spatial rule discrimination network (ESRDN) as an efficient condition evaluation model for active rule of spatial database. Some heuristic optimization rules of ESRDN are presented and proved. At last a cost model is presented to assess the efficiency of the model we proposed, and experiment is used to illustrate the optimized results of ESRDN.
