Abstract :
The 3-dimensional interconnection of waveguides in planar lightwave circuits (PLCs) is demonstrated for the first time. By writing 3-dimensional waveguides that cross other waveguides, the femtosecond laser successfully interconnects PLC waveguides with low loss.
