Abstract
This paper introduces a framework called an efficient dynamic key management scheme for wireless sensor networks. It reduces the number of transmissions needed for rekeying to avoid the stale keys. In addition to energy savings, it also provides a secure communication frame work where the sensed data is encoded using RC4 encryption mechanism. The key to RC4 encryption mechanism changes dynamically as a function of the residual virtual energy of the sensor. The simulation results shows that dynamic key management scheme is a secure communication frame work providing the security services of authenticity and integrity, there by it is able to detect and filter out false data that is injected into the network by the malicious outsiders.
