Abstract :
A series of studies on Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol has been constructed in the literature to improve medium access performance in different aspects as identified by the different performance metrics. In this paper we study media access protocols for distributed wireless networks and describe a carrier sense multiple access protocol for ad hoc networks, which uses a dynamic p-persistent algorithm to resolve access contentions among mobile nodes. Our proposal extends the base scheduler with an additive synchronisation and adaptation mechanism to improve the performance of system. The analytical and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provide a fair, effective and fast adaptive solution for distributed wireless medium access.
