Abstract
Summary form only given. Absorption and photoluminescence characteristics of various polythiophene derivatives have been studied. Measurements on fluorescence quantum yield indicate that the quantum efficiency of the polythiophene derivatives with ester group substitution are higher than that of the ester containing derivatives. Between the ester group substituted polythiophenes, the longer alkyl side chain gives higher quantum efficiency. The quantum yield of the polythiophene derivatives is compared to that of the coumarin 500 laser dye in solution. Temperature dependance of the emission peak shilt is also observed.
