Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the result of the measurement of photoconductivity in poly(2-styryl-1,4 phenylenevinylene) and poly(2-methoxy-5-styryl-1,4-phenylenevinylene), which are derivatives of poly(p-phenylene-vinytene)(PPV). Unlike the other derivatives of PPV, these materials have conjugated side group. Photoconductivity signal in both materials is very week with respect to that of PPV. This can be interpreted in terms of large interchain distance. The spectral response of photoconductivity of poly(2-styryl-1,4-phenylenevinylene) shows onset at 2.4 eV. This onset energy corresponds to that of the absorption. Intensity dependence is also presented. We present spectral response and intensity dependence of photoconductivity in poly(2-methoxy-5-styryl:-1,4-phenylenevinylene).
