Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. We discuss several configurations of dielectric-barrier discharges to produce stable and uniform plasma in air. The discharges have potential applications in manufacturing, pollution cleanup and sterilization. A dual pressure discharge will be discussed. The UV produced by low pressure discharge is coupled to a high pressure discharge to create a uniform discharge. The electrical characteristics of the discharge will be discussed. It has been found that UV irradiation increases the number of microdischarges. Therefore the discharge is more uniform and efficient in producing radicals.
