Abstract
Ultrasound images of experimentally induced tooth decay have been obtained. Although the lesion depth was beyond the resolution of the ultrasound system, the effect of caries could be observed indirectly by imaging the enamel-dentine junction. This interface could be viewed in spite of any defects of the enamel surface. The square shape of an experimental carious lesion was clearly shown in a contour plot of the amplitude of the echo reflected from the enamel-dentine junction
