Abstract
The separation of variables is applied to the analysis of piezoelectric sensors. Limitations of the separation of variables technique mean that only approximate boundary conditions can be satisfied. For such an approximation, free disc solutions are developed and built upon to provide loaded disc solutions. An electrical equivalent circuit is given and this accurately predicts the important resonance frequencies of a particular commercial sensor
