Title :
A complete and optimal data allocation method for practical discrete multitone systems
Author :
Levin, Howard E.
Abstract :
A complete set of optimal data allocation algorithms for practical multicarrier systems is presented which solves three related problems: initial bit allocation, adaptive allocation updates, and limited power adjustments. Designed for standard compliant discrete multitone asymmetric digital subscriber line systems, the algorithms meet error correction overhead and spectral mask requirements. Unlike linear domain methods that are based on the gap approximation, these efficient algorithms are performed in the logarithmic domain and yield optimal results
