  • Abstract
Summary form only given. Many inorganic metal-halides, -calcogenides and -hydroxides have layered structures, whereas organometallic layer compounds, where spins on metals are coupled over a sheet, are still sparse. There have been several coordination 1-D polymers containing bridging organic ligands such as oxalate, squarate, and hydrobenzoquinone dianions and its derivatives. A useful way is to fabricate 2- and 3-D coordination polymers from 1-D polymers as warp and additional ligands as woof which bridge the linear chains. We have succeeded in synthesizing and characterizing polymers, [Cu(CA)(pz)]/sub n/, {[Cu(CA)(H/sub 2/0)/sub 2/](H/sub 2/0/sub 2/)}n (H/sub 2/CA; chloranilic acid, pz; pyrazine) : pyrazine is used as woof to build 2-D framework and the water molecules are also used to link the 1-D motifs with the aid of hydrogen bonding. Their crystal structures and magnetic data are presented and discussed in relation to their electronic structures.
