Abstract :
Summary form only given. We report the magnetic properties of a novel organic polymer synthesized by direct dipolar cyclo-addition reaction. The material gives the largest (0.15 G/g) saturation magnetization at room temperature among hitherto synthesized pure organic compounds. Electron spin resonance (ESR) revealed a ferrimagnetic character, i.e., the existence of exchange resonance branch with extremely large g-value. The ESR spectrum behaves like that in a famous ferrite, Li/sub 0.5/Cr/sub 1.25/Fe/sub 1.25/O/sub 4/, except that the exchange resonance branch appeared in a very wide temperature region. This is the first observation of the exchange resonance in organic compounds. The new polymer with large saturation magnetization can be stoichiometrically and reproducibly synthesized under the ambient conditions and expected to be useful for practical applications.
