Abstract :
4G is the next step to a future with cellular networks technology heterogeneous but with a common denominator: the use of the IP protocol, particularly IPv6, as interconnection layer. The evolution to a fully IP-based cellular network will open the way to the IP delivery of common mobility management signaling, that is handover location and paging. In this paper, an implementation IP paging solution is presented. This solution follows the IP paging architecture depicted in RFC 3154 and includes a new multicast protocol. This protocol named Geopaging is designed to achieve an efficient delivery of paging messages to distance-based paging areas.
