Abstract :
Summary form only given. Conducting polypyrrole systems doped with various anions were synthesized by chemical and electrochemical methods. To investigate the solvent effects on the properties of polypyrrole, the volumetric ratios of H/sub 2/0 and acetonitrile as a co-solvent were varied for the electrochemical method. Resistivities and Seebeck coefficient as a function of temperature were measured. No charge transfer due to dopant anions was observed from the AC impedance measurements. DSC and TGA analyses showed no phase transition in these systems in the temperature range explored. From the SEM analysis, it was observed that the polarity of co-solvents affect the sample morphology. From the temperature dependence of resistivity, bipolaron hopping conduction mechanism was suggested.
