Abstract
A method of synthesis of planar metal-dielectric lightguides (MDLG) is proposed. The method is connected with restitution of a law of a refractive index changes in a cross-section of a lightguide for a given power localization coefficient of a propagated wave at a fixed frequency. The single-mode and low-mode regimes are assumed. The obtained lightguides, due to their parameters, have potential for various integrated optics devices, e.g. multi-channel waveguide splitters, modulators and switches, filters, and radiating structures.
