Abstract :
A simulator based on a professional circuit simulation package intended for the study of railway track circuits is described. The simulator facilities include user-friendly input and output, a hierarchical block structure for the simulation model and an accurate representation of the rail track. The simulation objectives are the design and site adjustment of track circuits and assessment of the effects of electromagnetic interference on track circuit operation. The authors describe how the simulator is verified and give an example simulation showing the effects of track parameter variations on track circuit receiver normal operating conditions
