Abstract :
Fuel cells are energy conversion devices which use hydrogen as the fuel source and an integral part of a Zero energy Building (ZEB). Z-source inverters are attractive option for various energy conversions in a ZEB. In this paper the application of Z-source inverters to convert the DC output of fuel cells in a ZEB to AC output is studied. The changes in fuel utilization, stack consumption and stack efficiency of a 65kW fuel cell is studied by varying the fuel rate. The output voltage and output current of the fuel cell, DC-link voltage, three phase output voltage and three phase current of the inverter are also studied.
