Abstract :
A system of injury description that requires only moments to capture the fineness of detail needed to encode millions of injuries and their associated surgical interventions is described. The system, implemented on a microcomputer, requires no specialized training to use and is easily searched. It also allows for the automatic generation of AIS (abbreviated injury score) codes for injuries and CPT codes for the operations performed. The system is easily included in a broader database of information about the hospitalization of trauma patients
