  • Abstract
An important aspect that must be considered in the design of any differential global positioning system (DGPS) is the degree of integrity inherent in the differential corrections provided by that system. Currently available DPGS systems provide only partial integrity due to one or more of the following reasons: they are restricted to single operating mode integrity, they are capable of failure detection only with no fault, or they are based upon reference station (RS) designs that are limited as to the type of user receivers with which they are compatible. The authors describe a novel integrated-system concept for a DGPS RS design that is veracious because it includes advanced quality control features which guarantee its accuracy, its not-to-exceed error (NTE) levels, and its integrity. A prototype of this ARINC veracious differential RS (AVDRS) is being built. The target differential data veracity specifications for the prototype AVDRS are given. The status of this development effort is also described
