Abstract
In the coastal regions of Bangladesh, villages are remotely situated, where grid connection is not economically feasible. Sandwip is such an island which is situated in a very remote area lacking electricity but with a great potential for developing electricity from wind energy. The wind speed is high enough to produce electricity throughout the year in Sandwip. This paper proposes a cost effective design of a wind farm in Sandwip, Bangladesh. The estimated energy demand is found to be 16.65MW. A location for the wind farm along with a south to north grid line is proposed.
