Abstract
This paper deals with a thorough analysis of the uncertainty sources affecting the inter-node time synchronization in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Such an analysis relies on a stochastic model describing the various uncertainty contributions as well as on the main features of real WSN node architectures. Some experimental results confirm the correctness of the theoretical approach. The achieved results will enable the implementation of a simulator that could be used to compare the accuracy performances of different synchronization protocols.
