Abstract :
In order to estimate the role of risk factors in patient outcome in kidney transplant programs, 13 years of activity were evaluated using a personal computer. The program included a software package obtained by adapting a database integrated with a spreadsheet. The program was simply framed with an input mask, a database, and a set of spreadsheets, one for each field of the database, for statistical calculations, tables, and diagrams. The risk factors considered were stored in each database field. For each factor descriptive data, survival rates, and relative risks were made available. This type of software organization, which requires only a small computer, directly connects the physician and the information source and gives a general evaluation of the possible treatments for each patient, according to his or her personal and clinical characteristics
